We want our youth to look forward to coming to Synagogue so we organise lots of fun events to help them meet and make lifelong friends.
The Wimbledon Synagogue has a dedicated youth worker who runs activities once a week after Cheder, at the synagogue for school years 5-11 and outside synagogue get-togethers for years 11-13. As well as being a fun, casual way of meeting up with friends (and making new friends), it is a way of integrating our young members into the youth leadership programme which begins in earnest in years 11 and 12 and gives our youth the chance to become community leaders themselves.
Affiliated to the national movement for Reform Synagogue Youth – RSY-Netzer – we encourage all the young people to participate in the major RSY-Netzer events such as Shemesh (summer camp), Sheleg (winter camp), Israel tour and more. For more on RSY click here.
Over and above weekly youth club, we firmly believe that young people should take an active part in as many aspects of synagogue life as possible, including services, fundraising, and furthering their Jewish education.
