Volunteers Needed

There are always lots of ways of getting involved in the synagogue and helping it to be a vibrant welcoming community. It is also a great way of getting to know more people and widening your network. Here are a selection of volunteer positions where we would really welcome people to step forward and have a go.

New Council Members

A new Council is elected each year at the AGM and we are always looking for members to step forward and stand for election. There are 15 seats on Council and if you are interested in having a say in how the synagogue should be run then please do think about standing. Any current member of Council would be delighted to talk to any prospective members if they would like to find out more about it. Alternatively you can ask Jackie in the office to send you a copy of our Induction Pack for prospective Council members which contains a comprehensive guide to the inner workings of the Council (jackie@wimshul.org).

Nominations for new Members will need to be in early September so it is not too early to start thinking about it now.

Cheder PTA

The Cheder PTA is a group of parents made up of a class representative from each of the Cheder classes from playshul to GCSE. The purpose of the PTA is to be a liaison between teachers and parents,  to welcome and integrate new parents and to fundraise for new equipment, teaching aids and outings. It is a close supportive group and encourages Cheder parents to socialise and get to know each other by running a weekly bagel stall and organising events. We would love to welcome new members on to the Committee at any point in the year but of course particularly at the beginning of the academic year in September. If you would like to know more about this please contact either Yvonne Mason (ycooper@doctors.org.uk) or Lucy Itkin (lucyitkin@tiscali.co.uk).
