Breath a sigh of relief, relax and enjoy the feeling of rest at a Wimbledon Friday evening service.
Friday night is the start of Shabbat (Sabbath) and marks the end of the work week and the beginning of a day of rest. Breath a sigh of relief, relax and enjoy the feeling of rest at a Wimbledon Friday evening service.
We have a variety of different types of Friday evening services. They almost all begin at 7.00pm (there are a few exceptions).
Every Friday except the 4th Friday of the month: regular service; 7.00pm
This is a more traditional Friday evening service, led by one of the community. On occasion we may have a guest rabbi or speaker at one of these services.
4th Friday: Shir Hadash (“a new song”); 7.00pm
Shir Hadash is our monthly musical Friday evening service. Featuring, guitars, drums, and lots of voices. It is a spiritual service designed to break the mood of he work week and get you into a Shabbat spirit. The service starts at 7pm, and is followed by either a Kiddush and glass of wine or 3-4 times pa by a Chavurah supper.
Once in a while: Friday night family service; 6.00pm
These services are led by young families and take place three times pa. They begin at 6.00pm. For details of these services, please contact the Synagogue office.
Once in a while Young Adults Friday; 7.30pm
The service will led by young Adults. Don’t let the title confuse you: all ages are (very) welcome to the service. It is followed by a meal for under-40s only.
