‘It was only when I started helping out, that I really felt a part of this amazing community!’
Gila isn’t the only person at Wimbledon to say how much their lives have been changed by getting involved in volunteering both within the synagogue and outside in the wider community.
There is something for everyone to do if they so wish, from preparing bagels on a Sunday morning to giving people lifts to hospital, from filling the care group freezer to translating at the night shelter, from cooking for the homeless drop in to putting on a fundraising concert, from befriending at Nightingale to dog walking. The friendships made and the pleasure gained are just brilliant!
Opportunities abound and we love new ideas and projects.
So to get involved….
- If you are a member of the Synagogue and are interested in offering your time for other opportunities please complete a ‘Volunteering My Time’ form.
- Likewise if you are a member and want to recruit a volunteer please feel in the ‘Request Someone’s Time’ form.

If you would like to help support the School Visits team please let us know. We are always interested in new recruits. We will give you all the training you need to run a school visit confidently and new volunteers are always paired with a more experienced member of the team until they are confident enough to run a visit alone. We think it is amongst the most rewarding and important work we do in the community as it helps to foster tolerance and provides the children (and their teachers) with a foundation of understanding of the key principles of our religion ensuring they see it in its true and positive light. To read more about school visits click here. If you are interested in volunteering then click the ‘Find out more’ button and fill in the form.
