Celebrate your High Holy Days 2023 with the Wimbledon Synagogue
With all the uncertainties that surround us these days, what remains constant is our ability to enter the High Holy Days on a path towards forgiveness, repentance, and renewal. The Days of Awe are the time to stand at the precipice of our souls, encouraged by the beautiful music, prayers, and poems of our ancient tradition, and gaze with sincerity at how we can repair our relationships and repair our own souls in the process. Let us join together this year with the intention of stepping through the gates to our soul as the joyful and affirming community we wish to be. We invite you to join us in the exciting, spiritually uplifting services for the High Holy Days and to welcome the year 5784 with us.
This is a very special time of the year. In two weeks, we are going to celebrate the High Holy Days together—Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur—and then also Sukkot and Simchat Torah. Together with our synagogue board, I invite you to join us in this exciting, spiritually uplifting process and to welcome the year 5784 with us.
To ensure that all of you remain safe and healthy, the Wimbledon Synagogue will follow appropriate security and health guidelines and continue to live broadcast all services from the sanctuary, which will be streamed directly into your homes. Separate information about how you can join the services and your tickets has been sent to all members. If you haven’t received your tickets, please contact the office so that they can follow up on them.
If you have family members or guests that would like to join you, we kindly ask you to get in touch with the office at office@wimshul.org, too. – For our students and young adults scheme, please visit our website: http://www.reformjudaism.org.uk/HHDTickets.
Please note: For security reasons, you must have tickets to attend services.
Together with our wonderful choir, the quartet, and the dedicated team of wardens and lay leaders, we have created services that will offer you time to pray, reflect, and reconnect. Based on our Machzor, our services will include elements from our tradition combined with modern readings, space to meditate, and opportunities to learn and study.
Our youth worker, Agi, has, in partnership with our cheder team, prepared meaningful children’s and youth activities, and we hope to see all generations of our community enjoying the festival days.
L’shanah tovah tikateivu— I wish you a good and sweet new year, and I am looking forward to seeing you and your families over the High Holy Days.
Rabbi Adrian M. Schell
