Synagogue Events and Fund Raising Group

The Synagogue Events and Fund Raising Group (SEG) was established many, many years ago (originally known simply as the Synagogue Events Group) with the aim of providing in-house programmes for the members of the synagogue covering talks, music recitals,  supper quizzes, debates and discussions and bigger projects such as shows and anniversary events. 

When Adult Education changed to the Cultural Events and Activities group and with the advent of the pandemic during which they embarked on talks and speakers on zoom and mostly during the day, SEG agreed that in the main they would organise projects and activities which would raise substantial funds for the synagogue.

Thus, for example, in 2019, we held a dinner-dance to celebrate the synagogue’s 70th anniversary; this year we are planning a Supper Quiz, a celebration to commemorate the Queen’s Jubilee which coincides with Shavuot, and a Chanukkah event.  Big successes came when we put on shows such as Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat and Guys  &  Dolls and that is not to say that there will not be another one like that in the future.

We are always open to new ideas and more volunteers!!!
